It all started with a childhood memory of my mother taking us to get frosty mugs of root beer at the old fashioned drive-up fast food stop. Wellll, that is not completely the truth. It all started with the idea of having a frosty beer that would stay frosty and cold for the whole time it takes to drink the beer. Then, I got nostalgic for my childhood trips to get frosty root beer and I was well on my way to designing a pottery tumbler that could be stored in the freezer in order to provide the perfect vessel frosty to the point of slush beverage.
And, here it is, the Long Tall Cool Drink of Somethin’ Tumbler
There are no handles on this one, nothing that might become brittle in the cold or cause issues with varying degrees of clay thickness resulting in cracking or breaking.
This design has gone through rigorous testing – i.e. we’ve been keeping a set on the small shelf in our freezer’s ice compartment for the past 6 months and have been enjoying icy cold libations with some regularity.
The name? Well, as I was working through the design, I just kept making the cups taller and taller and taller with each version, and not everyone likes to drink water, so, Long Tall Cool Drink of Water just wouldn’t do 😉
They’ve worked great for water, iced tea, lemonade, margaritas, and of course, beer.
