I love a good kitchen utensil. If it’s wooden… all the better!
Yes, I have given into my infatuation with the images of Julia Child’s kitchen, and with the support and help from my husband, Dan, we have begun hanging the utensils, pretty much, wherever there is bare wall space in the kitchen. Dan loves woodworking and so appreciates an orderly wall hanging arrangement of hand tools, or utensils, in this case.
Everything has a place or a general vicinity of “it goes somewhere on this row of hooks”.
But, for all my stirring and whipping utensils, barring the stand mixer, the hand mixer, and the Immersion blender, et. al. things with a cord, I love a sturdy stoneware holder that is tall and wide enough to hold all the wooden spoons and whips I could ever need. “Need” being a somewhat personally-defined term. This holder sits right next to the stove and corrals every utensil I use when cooking, and, no, the picture above does not represent all the stirring and whipping utensils I use, which is approximately to the order of ten times the utensils displayed in the pictures above and below.
Focusing on the pot and not my addiction to kitchen utensils …
I’ve made them as straight tall cylinders, some with a little chubby middle, and others with a little flair just at the top. I can’t say I have a favorite. I love making them and imagining all the utensil possibilities!!!
There’s the “U”-word again … back to the pots.
Dimensions: These vary quite a bit, but a medium one tends to be approximately, 7″ T X 6″ W depending on those things that go inside them, that shall remain unmentioned…
All the Holders are hand-thrown on the potter’s wheel and trimmed. Variations occur in size, just a little possible sway, and the glazes I use include many layers of different colors, all hand brushed. Expect variation, love that your pot will have it’s own unique character and charm – just like you.
These pots are made with non-toxic clay and glazes. They are made to be used and, with care, can last a lifetime. Please don’t shock the pots with drastic temperature changes, sudden impacts or harsh chemicals. Please consider pottery can scratch some surfaces. Dishwasher safe. Will become warm if on stove while stove or oven is being used.
