Winter has arrived! We are blanketed in snow which always seems to quiet the world except for the winter wind and the crunch beneath our feet as we take a walk about to check on all the little souls on the farm.
We just loaded the chicken feed storage with 17 bags of feed to last us for the next 3 months. The chickens have decided to hang out in the coop today – they’ve got plenty of food, water and warmth, no venturing out to the barn or checking for seeds at the feeder.
The lake view has gone to grey tones – a crystal beauty. It hasn’t frozen yet, but we are supposed to get down to 3 degrees for Christmas. She may start to freeze over by the end of the weekend.
There are 2 little souls on the farm that have awoken to the day and are enjoying a romp – our dogs Bubba, the brown Labradoodle, and Murphy, the stout black lab.
Murphy particularly loves the snow and loses himself a bit!
And when it’s all said and done, and they come in from the cold, they always seem to ask…
“Do I have snow on my nose?”
From all the souls at Stone Cottage Pottery and Farm:
Peace on Earth, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and may the calm and quiet of the winter season rest in your soul.
